Happy sunflowers to celebrate a beautiful spring day.

Tulips

The image to the left is the most recent version of this tulip painting. I had great fun painting the initial rendition but months later after many sideways glances the muddled quality of the background began to bother me. Hence, the second, brighter version which is perhaps too bright. It may have another reincarnation.

Two for the Road

I decided to finish this study which had been started in Qiang Huang's workshop last weekend. (Did I mention it was fabulous?) Qiang often uses dark backgrounds which are lovely and mysterious. I find them a challenge.

Opposite Directions

Here in Connecticut, strawberries are now in season and they are fabulous.

Pink Roses

The roses are in a small square glass milk bottle from a dairy in Connecticut that no longer exists. I love this little bottle--I wonder if anyone still makes glass milk bottles? (Please forgive glare on photo.)

Long Stem

It was the stem that made me want to paint this.

Something Inside

Usually, it is the pear's solid, chunky form that I like to paint; today was a day for something different.

Conversation

Often I take trips into NY to see exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the last few times I took photos. (Allowed in the permanent exhibits.) I so admire Karen Jurick's figurative paintings and wanted to try more figurative work in addition to my still life paintings. This painting is one of several completed so far. It will be on exhibit May 1st and 2nd at the the Barn Hill Studio in Monroe, CT.
