Lincoln

The Daily Paintworks site currently has a paint Lincoln challenge and since I happened to have leftover paint on my palette and since I had not done any self portrait paintings lately (as I promised myself), I gave Lincoln a go. This was on a black gessoed panel so the dark bits were lifted back out. The greens and reds were leftovers from a ranunculus flower painting that I had just finished. Bizarre looking but fun and no disrespect intended to Mr. Lincoln.

The actual title for this painting is failed still life turned upside down and turned into a landscape--but that seemed too long. Actually, the still life disaster turned into a good opportunity to just play with colors and shapes.

Tall Pear

This still life was, of course, painted indoors but somehow blue skies are coming to mind.

Sitting Tall

This is one of the old bottles that I previously mentioned. It is scratched and beat up but still beautiful.

First One

There won't be any homegrown tomatoes for quite a while here in Connecticut--but one can look forward to warmer days and summer gardens.
