Initially, I got rid of all that white canvas by covering the entire board with a mixture of ultramarine and burnt sienna. The cloth and pears were then lifted out with a paper towel and then restated with the appropriate colors.
Hi Vikki, I use Gamsol, an oderless thinner---I am not sure whether chemically it is more related to mineral spirits or turp. It was recommended to me as the least volatile thinner.
You achieved a wonderful quality with the colors and how the cloth softnens and fades into the background. Nice work...very painterly.
ReplyDeleteWow! Absolutely wonderful, Susan! Thanks for sharing your process. The result is great!
ReplyDeleteColor combo, lighting....terrific!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting process--did you use mineral spirits or turp to lift the blue/sienna mixture?
