Two Green Pears

Initially, I got rid of all that white canvas by covering the entire board with a mixture of ultramarine and burnt sienna. The cloth and pears were then lifted out with a paper towel and then restated with the appropriate colors.

  1. You achieved a wonderful quality with the colors and how the cloth softnens and fades into the background. Nice work...very painterly.

  3. What an interesting process--did you use mineral spirits or turp to lift the blue/sienna mixture?

  4. Hi Vikki, I use Gamsol, an oderless thinner---I am not sure whether chemically it is more related to mineral spirits or turp. It was recommended to me as the least volatile thinner.
