Explanation Needed

What do you think this dad said to his son? Don't you love how they both had their arms behind their backs?
This painting, along with other figurative paintings will be at the Barn Hill Studio for just one weekend, May 1st and 2nd, in Monroe, CT. The studio belongs to Linda Dohanos who does fabulous sculptures and paintings. Attached to her studio is a lovely gallery.

Three Pears

When in doubt, I always return to pears to paint. Each one has a unique shape and somehow they always relate to each other.

Almost

I love the space between the little rose and the chunky pear. Not too close, not too far.

Conversation

Often I take trips into NY to see exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the last few times I took photos. (Allowed in the permanent exhibits.) I so admire Karen Jurick's figurative paintings and wanted to try more figurative work in addition to my still life paintings. This painting is one of several completed so far. It will be on exhibit May 1st and 2nd at the the Barn Hill Studio in Monroe, CT.

Magnolia

Magnolia Grandiflora is the official state flower of both Mississippi and Louisiana. My knowledge of horticulture is very limited--I just learned that little tidbit from Wikipedia. Glad we have magnolias in Connecticut as well, they are beautiful this spring.

Trio

Only a little over two weeks left to view the exhibit, Still Life Invitational, at Susan Powell Fine Art in Madison, CT. Several of my paintings have sold (so happy). This is one of the paintings included in the exhibit.

Not a Ship

I just finished this cherry painting. People seem to gravitate to cherries. Maybe they should be called the friendly fruit.

Nothing's Broken

The guy on the right feels awkward about falling--that is why he is hiding his face. Don't worry--he isn't hurt.

Solo

This painting started with a whole cast of characters; they all exited into the wings leaving this little guy all alone on stage.

Big and Small

Isn't it amazing how large coffee mugs have grown? I admit it--I love my caffeine.

Three on Stripes

This small painting was done with acrylics. I keep thinking that I will get my watercolors back out to play with as well.

Every Which Way and Loose

I bought a bag of lemons yesterday--I suspect they will appear in the next several paintings.
